Description

Kickboxing Mats: 20mm Kickboxing Jigsaw Mats 1m x 1m are a favourite for kickboxing sparring rings but can also be used for general aerobics and soft safe areas for similar sports. WAKO approved kickboxing rings are 6m x 6m and 8m x 8m for major final events. Some rings have safe areas also. Mats are bi-tone and reversible which facilitates zonal marking, for example safe areas and fighter start points. The advantage of a kick boxing jigsaw puzzle mat is that if damaged you can either flip one section of a mat or replace it. With larger old fashioned kick boxing mats this was not possible. The mats are made from PU and EVA which not only has a high impact but has a ‘memory’ which resets to its original shape after impact. All mats are waterproof and wipeable making them easy to maintain. Our mats are designed for long life, you don’t want to be purchasing mats every year, buy once and by quality. Higher density jigsaw mats of 120kg/cbm are recommended for competition. Kickboxing mats main factors are hardness; density and grip. Density is measured by the amount of EVA that can be packed in to a cubic meter and is a main component of price. The higher the density the more impact a mat can take before it ‘goes to zero’ or you hit the floor. However, some practitioners (children for example) prefer softer mats as the higher density mats are too hard. It should also be noted that Kickboxers often use head gear which provide additional protection. Other factors are the floor the mats are being fitted. Does the floor already have a carpet with underlay or is sprung wood. Obviously harder floors will need more protection to absorb impact, you may consider our 30mm or 40mm range with varying densities. Grip of the tatami mat is important. Its a personal choice between too much grip (burn) and too little. Tatami pattern (straw effect) has good grip with less burn and suitable for standup and ground work. Dimple effect or T-pattern has better grip for standup and sudden changes in direction.
